What are dumplings?
Dumplings are a really broad term to describe dough wrapped around a filling. They are found in various forms throughout many cuisines and cultures. Whilst most think about different Asian cuisines first, just think about Italian ravioli and Polish pierogi. They are all different variations on the premise of dumplings with different recipes and names. Whilst it’s not clear exactly who or when they were created, Chinese dumplings date back to more than 1800 years ago. Whilst they were likely initially created in various countries to stretch out the meat supply to feed more people, they are today a much loved food.

How to cook dumplings
There are many different ways to cook your dumplings. If you’d like to boil them, all you need to do is place in boiling water for 4-8 mins until they float. You should make sure to stir them in the water to help prevent sticking. To steam dumplings, you can cook them in a steamer with boiled water for 8-10 minutes. If you’d like a crispy finish, you can pan fry them with oil and cold water. When the water has fully evaporated they’re ready to eat.
